#NaPoWriMo | Day 14 | Blankie

the temperature is rising
but me, a fool, won’t switch blankie
for a chaddar

lighter fabric is not one i need, i say
blankie keeps me saf(n)e, i reason

weight is comforting
to chubby feet, tired arms, lonely back

wrapping around me like a lover
making me sweat like a treadmill
soaking my tears and sweat alike
blankie shape-shifts as per need

it wasn’t bought from a store, you know
mum had stitched it, a god-da
from old pink-purple bedsheet, clothes
straightened, ironed, (s)lain in layers
needle weaving in and out
altering destiny

blankie is my home,
atleast till the lockdown is lifted
